Love in Lusaka

Couples Names:

Given Phiri and Nicholas Majula

Date of Wedding:

28 April 2018

How did you meet…tell us your story....backgrounds that brought you together:

We met on 5 January 2009 at the Zambia Center for Accountancy Studies. We were both enrolled for the ACCA course. At the time we met we were acquainted and didn’t hang out much but Nicholas had a huge crush on me . He left ZCAS to go and study in Malaysia after 2 years and we lost contact. In June 2012 we reconnected again on Twitter and we found ourselves having so much more in common than we did in 2009 and its been a love story ever since.

How did he propose: I was flying back to Zambia on 6 August 2017 from a work trip in Nairobi and when I walked out of the airport Nicholas got on one knee and proposed.

What was the theme of your wedding: The wedding was rustic themed

What was your wedding budget: The wedding budget was between K200 000 to K250 000

How many guests did you have: 200 guests

Why did you choose your venue/service providers that you did:

We wanted our wedding to have a very personal touch.

Most of our service providers were friends and family.

The wedding was hosted at my mother in-laws residence at the Bonanza Estate. Everything about our wedding had a personal touch and symbolised something personal about Nick and I.

My wedding dress was picked our by my best friend Ms Kayula Chanda from Lilly Christina Bridal.

Wedding cake baked by – Something Sweet ( My Aunt Eleanor)

Décor – Complete Signature ( Jamie Malyango – Family friend)

Table name stand – Teza ( my sister in law)

Choreography – Claudia ( family friend)

What was the highlight of your reception:

The highlight of our reception was dancing and celebrating with our friends and family that invested a lot of time and energy to ensure we had our dream day.

What was the most special memory of the whole wedding day:

The most special memory was walking down the aisle, the moment we laid eyes on each other at church was so special. Our church blessing was magical. We could feel all the love and happiness from our friends and family but most importantly the presence of God was there.

Any service provider recommendations?:

Yes I will recommend the suppliers that are the most reliable and provide impeccable service. I have listed them below

Advice for future brides: Create your own dream, don’t copy and paste a wedding template. Make your wedding planning process fun and enjoyable for both you and your spouse. If possible do a vision board that you can share with all your service providers to they can make your wedding day special for you.
